Participants will improve their self-advocacy, public policy advocacy and leadership skills by being introduced to the history/philosophy of the disability rights movement and principles of self-determination. Individuals have a chance to develop and practice necessary self-advocacy skills, as well as learn strategies to access services & supports. Members of the class will make connections with other community members in order to create change by advocating for policies and procedures that promote people having control over their own lives and the inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities.
